These are confusing times for many Christians. It seems that many traditional biblical values are not only rejected; but often attacked. Over the past several months the pace fo change has reached warp speed, leaving many of believers spiritually and culturally disoriented or even fearful, frustrated, and angry.
How can we spiritually survive in an increasingly spiritually hostile environment? What do you do when the society looks different than your values? How do we respond when the culture celebrates evil? What do we do when it feels like evil keeps winning? It there any hope for future generations? Is it possible to do more than just survive?
There is an emerging conviction that the situation of the modern church is becoming more and more like that of ancient Israel. We increasingly are find ourselves exiled in our own country! Exile implies much more than just a change of address; it’s also a cultural and spiritual condition as well. It is the experience of knowing that we are aliens where the dominant values run counter to our own. Exile is, its very essence, living away from home.
In this series we will explore the life and witness of a man forced to live in a fast-changing and godless society. This man faced fears about the future, concern for his safety, and the discouragement of living in a world falling apart at warp speed. That man was Daniel, and with the power of hope, humility, and wisdom, he not only survived, but thrived.
