UNDER ATTACK

The moment, you became a Christian, you entered a spiritual battle. Saying yes to Jesus and His kingdom is at the same time saying no to Satan and his work. In Ephesians the 4thchapter the apostle Paul paints a beautiful picture of the Church functioning together as a body. Just as our bodies have different parts, a hand here, an eye there, a foot down there, so too does the Body of Christ, the Church. All of us are bound together in Christ, into one body, walking and working for God glory; or a least we should be…. At the end of the epistle, Paul gets to something he’s been hinting at all along; this body the Church is under attack. This body, in fact, is a soldier, and it’s at war. Since the Fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden, the devil has tried to bait us with false teaching, lure us into sin, and turn us against each other. He does this to keep us from glorifying God and fulfilling the Great Commission. He seeks to devour us (1 Pet. 5:8) so we can no longer be a light to a lost world.

As disciples, we must arm ourselves with understanding of how spiritual battle works and how we are to stand firm to fight and win in it, both in our personal lives and in the corporate life of the Church.
