In The Beginning God

God is who the Bible says was in the beginning.
in Genesis 1:1.In fact, we learn
“In the beginning, God CREATED the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
Everything we see and cannot see, all that is, has been created by God; even me and you! Although some have tried to prove that God did not create the world, the only reasonable explanation for our world, in all of its vastness and order, is that IT WAS CREATED.
One reason is the Bible’s testimony is certainly clear. It says in Psalm 33:6,
“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth.” Psalm 33:6,
“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the heights above. Praise Him, all His angels, praise Him, all His heavenly hosts. Praise Him, sunand moon, praise Him, all you shining stars. Praise Him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created.” Psalm 148:1-5
There are many convincing arguments and a lot of solid evidence that helps us understand that God created the world. In addition to these, the Christian has an assurance that the world does not understand, but it is certainly real. It is called FAITH. The writer of Hebrews says in
Hebrews 11:1-3, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
As we look at creation, we can begin to see something of the nature of God. The apostle Paul is very specific about this. He writes in Romans 1:18-20,
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness since what may be known about God is plain to them. For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible attributes—His eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:18-20
In the same way, the Psalmist says in Psalm 19:1,
“The heavens declare the glory of God.” Psalm 19:1
Since God has created everything, we are also a part of His creation. However, the Bible indicates that there is something that makes us as special in God’s sight. We, unlike any other creature in the whole universe, have been created in His image.
Genesis 1:26-27, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ so God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
It is interesting to note that after each thing was created God said that it was good in Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, & 24, but it wasn’t until man was created that God could say in Genesis 1:31, “It is very good.”
There are two reasons why I share this with you:
The first is so you can be reminded and understand more fully that God is indeed the Creator of the universe, and each day we live in His world we will be reminded of His eternal power and divine nature.
The second is so we might realize we are special to God, and God should be special to us. If it were not for God, we would not even be alive!
The prophet Isaiah summarizes both of these things. He says in Isaiah 42:5 that it’s
God “. . .who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it.”
It’s God who has given us life and breath, and who has made us special. May we never stop praising Him for that!
